Mini Cooper S John

                            Mini Cooper S John

MINI is both the name of a subsidiary of BMW, and a car produced by that subsidiary since 2001. The car is marketed as a "retro" redesign of the original Mini, which was manufactured by British Motor Corporation and its successors, assigns, from 1959 to 2000. To distinguish it from its predecessor (the 'classic Mini'), the name for the new car is MINI (written in capital letters). It is often called "The BMW Mini," "New Mini" or simply "Mini" . MINI is manufactured in Cowley, Oxford, United Kingdom, which has been historically Morris car plant.

The MINI is available in seven models: the MINI One D, MINI One, MINI One Convertible, MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S, MINI Cooper Convertible and MINI Cooper S Convertible. In Portugal, the MINI One is powered by a 1.4 liter version of the Tritec engine but all other petrol powered mini to use version 1.6 liters. Since 2004, a soft-top convertible option is available in the entire region.
There are many styles and badging differences between the models, perhaps the most obvious is that the Cooper S has a distinctive scoop cut into the bonnet to provide airflow over the heat exchanger mounted on top. The Cooper S also has dual exhaust exit in the middle of the transom. Cooper (non S) has more chrome parts than the Mini One and a single exhaust. The Mini One / D has no visible exhaust pipes at all.

In some markets like Australia and the United States, only the MINI Cooper and Cooper S are sold because the MINI One's engine was considered to deliver enough power to run an air conditioner - a necessary feature in those climates. However, the only difference between the conductors of "One" and model "Cooper" is a software change in the engine control unit which adjusts for fuel economy on the MINI one one compromise between power and economy in the Cooper. Almost fifty percent of all MINI sold in Australia and about seventy percent of those sold in the United States is the top model in the line of Cooper S.

MINI One, Cooper and Cooper S use a Brazilian Tritec engine constructed while the MINI One / D uses the Toyota diesel engine built. In August 2006, BMW announced that engines would in future be built in Britain, so the car basically rebuilt the British (as well as the final composition of Cowley, the body pressings are made close to Swindon).

While modern engineering the Mini to use any of the original Mini, which captures the spirit of a lot of vintage cars. Like the original, it uses a transversely mounted four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels. All four wheels pushed in the corners of the body, which is a "two-box 'or' drawing hot hatch '. Design your own car, as the New Volkswagen Beetle, a retro design is consciously drawing the original Mini, with color contrasting colors of the roof, bonnet stripes optional rally lights and with optional black trim around the wheel arches and rocker panels to simulate a range of wheel flares found in traditional Mini.

Mini baptized wheel drive system of the future  crossover in the style of the great brands on the continent. After xDrive and Quattro, Mini comes with ALL4. If everyone already knows that the new Mini crossover that will be present world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (March 2010), will bear the name Countryman, Americans from Motoringfile raises a very interesting detail: wheel drive system that will be mounted on the new model of BMW Group will also be named, following to be named “ALL4.
Although it was scheduled to appear in Detroit in January, the official presentation of the new Mini model range will be delayed due to the fact that BMW chose to focus more the attention in these months on developing the new X3 generation model known as the best profit per unit in the entire range of Bavarian.
And as the new X3 will move the manufacturing place from Austria in the U.S. (in Spartanburg), BMW seriously analyze what is the right moment to end the cycle of manufacturing in Europe and to begin the production in U.S.

MINI Cooper S Inspired by Goodwood a Rolls-Royce miniature

First displayed as a concept prototype at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, the dashing new two-seater coupe from MINI has officially been marked for production in 2011, with sales beginning later this year. The company’s 50th anniversary passed in 2009, and so with it came the first prototype of a new MINI two door.
A multitude of models are available within the 2012 MINI Cooper coupe line. These include the John Cooper Works, Cooper SD, Cooper, and Cooper S editions. The standard Cooper coupe is powered by a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine, which pushes out 122 hp and 118 lb-ft of torque. Its zero to sixty time is slightly under 7.9 seconds and tops out at 134 mph.
The Cooper S features a twin scroll 1.6 liter 4 cylinder turbocharged power plant. Forced induction forces 184 horses and 192 lb-ft of torque from the petite motor and improves zero to sixty and top speeds by an entire second and 9 mph on the top end, respectively.
The MINI Cooper SD coupe has a 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine putting out 143 hp and a screeching 225 lb-ft of torque on the low end. It matches the base models top speed and zero to sixty specs.
MINI’s flagship Cooper coupe model, the John Cooper Works edition, has the same engine as the Cooper S, but is tuned to put out 211 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque that rocket the car from zero to 60 in about 6.4 seconds and tops out at 149 mph.
New styling cues on the coupe hint at a more elongated, more aggressive feel. The most noticeable change, by far, was the rear hatch. More reminiscent the agglutinated metal and glass hatch from an Acura RSX than the Italian Job hatchback trunk; MINI took an axe to the classic design. If the eye follows the rear glass up to the roof, one would notice an integrated spoiler on the roof, which forces air over the roof, and down the back of the car. Another spoiler is seated on the rear end of the car, and extends after 50 mph is reached. These two work together to create enough down force at high speeds to keep the featherweight on the ground and handling properly.
No word yet from MINI on pricing for the sports car, but most estimate the base model will start in the mid $20k range.
ROLLS-ROYCE MINIATURE:
The Mini inspired by Goodwood shows new colors, high quality leather and rich details as well as a Rolls-Royce on a reduced scale. The style choice in the Mini Inspired by Goodwood reflects the desire for style, smartnessand and refinement which ends to features the exterior paint made from a special Black Diamond metallic and upon request the Reef Blue metallic. The 17-inch wheels shows an unusual design and the bonnet does not have the air vents as on Mini Cooper S, but a smooth surface as the Cooper D. Typical beige Rolls, “Cornsilk” features the bridge, air vents frames, instrumentation edges, carpeted mats, Lounge leather seats and the the roof lining. The dashboard eyelid is made of black leather, while the walnut burr adorns the dashboard and steering wheel. Each Mini Cooper Inspired by Goodwood, of the thousands, has the aluminum plate with the name of the special series. The standard equipment includes adaptive xenon headlights, parking sensors, automatic air condition, onboard computer and the Mini Visual Boost Radio.
Technical aspect of MINI Inspired by Goodwood are identical to those of the MINI Cooper S MY 2011 with the four-cylinder 1.6-liter turbocharged, 184 hp and 260 Nm of torque with overboost function. It takes about 6.6 seconds on 0-100 km/h and fuel consumption – according to BMW – is 5.8 liters per 100 km. Optional extra is the automatic transmission.
The MINI Cooper S Inspired by Goodwood price is set – for Europe – at about € 46,000.

2012 MINI Cooper Coupe Official Specs

The 2012 Mini Coupe has finally been revealed in all its production-ready glory, replete with racing stripes. That’s right, Mini has released official images and specs of the new 2-seat Coupe, a hatchback model that goes on sale in October.
Let’s be clear; no one buys a Mini for its commodious cabin and cavernous cargo area. But the area beneath the rear hatch is larger than you might expect in the new Coupe, and it’s aided by a pass-through that allows longer objects to be carried in the car.
Sharp handling reflexes and zingy engines are the Mini mainstay; and the Coupe variant looks to keep these attributes at Mini’s exciting levels. We’ve already had a brief stint behind the wheel of the Mini Coupe and came away highly impressed.
Mild to Wild
There will be a Mini Coupe for everyone—or at least anyone who doesn’t need to haul more than one passenger and a lot of luggage. Three models will be available: Mini Cooper Coupe, the Mini Cooper S Coupe and the Mini John Cooper Works Coupe. The base Coupe is motivated by a 121-bhp 1.6-liter inline-4 that benefits from fully variable valve timing. The base Coupe can reach 60 mph in claimed 8.3 seconds, and it has a top speed of 127 mph.
Next is the Cooper S Coupe, powered by the 181-bhp turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-4. With twin-scroll turbo on overboost, there’s 192 lb.-ft. of torque available from a nice and flat 1700 rpm to 4500 rpm. The Cooper S Coupe reaches 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, while top speed jumps to 142 mph. If that’s not enough, the Mini John Cooper Works Coupe serves up 208 bhp—also courtesy of a turbocharged 1.6-liter—and this car hits 60 mph in a fleet 6.1 seconds. Top speed for the JCW Coupe is 147 mph.
Fine Details
At various points, the design of the Mini Coupe had us wondering if the production model would live up to racy looking concept. Test mules in bizarre camouflage didn’t inspire a lot of confidence. Yet the Mini Coupe in production trim manages to balance cuteness with sporty aggression. The lowered roofline (the “helmet” roof, in Mini-speak) appears much better integrated into the design—and the contrasting color scheme with racing stripes works well. A recess in the headliner is also smart, as the Coupe’s roofline has been lowered by about an inch when compared to the standard Mini.
Out back, the retractable rear spoiler automatically raises at 50 mph. The driver can also position the spoiler manually, via a button on the overhead control panel. The entire chassis, derived from that of the Convertible, has been strengthened. Wheel sizes range from 15 inches for the base Coupe, up to 16s and 17s, respectively, on the Cooper S and JCW versions. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, with a 6-speed Steptronic automatic available on the Cooper and Cooper S (the JCW is available only with the manual gearbox).
Every Mini Coupe comes equipped with Dynamic Stability Control (which includes ABS, EBD, Cornering Brake Control, Brake Assist and Hill-Start Assist). But only the JCW comes standard with Dynamic Traction Control, which has integrated Electronic Differential Lock control. That means the 2012 JCW Mini Coupe squirts out of corners with superb thrust, not spinning its inside front wheel excessively.
When it goes on sale in October, the 2012 Mini Cooper Coupe will be priced at $22,000, with the Cooper S version starting at $25,300 and the JCW at $31,900. That’s a little more expensive than the 2012 Mini Hardtop, which will be priced at $20,200, $23,800 and $30,600, respectively.

2012 Mini Cooper Coupe

Coupe's more aggressively raked roofline means that there's no room for backseat passengers. Even the front seats have oval shaped indentations in the roof liner to open up precious millimeters of headroom. So, Mini simply dropped the second row in favor of a parcel shelf with a small pass-through to the rear hatch. That's right, the Coupe has a rear hatch, not a trunk. However, the fixed parcel shelf appears to somewhat limit its hauling capabilities. We'll have to wait to get one in to judge for sure.

Other than the funky roof and the omission of a pair of seats, the Cooper Coupe is the same Cooper that we've come to know over the years. It features the same base 1.6-liter, 122-horsepower Cooper trim level, as well as Cooper S and John Cooper Works trims which offer 184 and 211 horsepower, respectively, from their twin-scroll turbocharged and direct injected 1.6-liter engines. European markets will also have access to a Mini Cooper Coupe SD, which is powered by a 143-horsepower turbodiesel engine that offers the lowest CO2 emissions and highest fuel economy of the range (about 54.7 U.S. mpg converted from the quoted imperial rate).

Check out the short video below to see the new Mini Cooper Coupe in action.
