Renault 4 Ever Concept: Obendorfer’s Revival of a Childhood Impression

Here’s one design that really impressed us: Italian David Obendorfer’s “Revival of a Childhood Impression”. Like Fiat’s Nuova 500, Obendorfer’s Revival takes the classic lines of its inspiration and wraps them around modern underpinnings.
Obendorfer explains:
“I have explored the nature of this model's surfaces and tried to capture the proportions that give it a strong personality. [Such] features are the r4's long wheelbase, quite short front overhang, car body with a typical forward-facing incline, different front and back fenders, front headlights close to each other, straight rear hatch, etc. [Of] course it has been necessary to update the vehicle volumes respecting - among other things - the standard for pedestrians' protection and the current requirements of safety and comfort in general.”
In other words, the Revival is a homage that does not skimp on creature comforts and occupant safety. It’s like the Hyundai i30 Estate in a way; a five-door hatchback with a wagon-sized boot.
It’s a modern design with retro-styling cues, perhaps designed to be built on an existing architecture. And like most new cars today, the Revival has been designed with alternative power plants – such as hybrid and all-electric ones – in mind.
Much like the exterior, the interior is attractive in its simplicity. The instrument panel retains the look-and-feel of the original Quatrelle, though uses an LCD screen that folds away when the engine is switched off in place of analogue gauges.
There’s also an LCD satellite navigation screen, a dashboard-mounted shift lever and conventional push button / turn knob controls for the radio and HVAC.
Of all the entrants, I feel this one looks the most production-ready. It surprises with its practicality: how it’s not some way-out design for a future that will never come.

Linha 2012 do Renault Logan

O câmbio automático de quatro marchas, com opção de troca seqüencial, vai proporcionar mais comodidade aos motoristas principalmente no trânsito urbano. O equipamento está disponível na versão topo de linha, Expression.
Além da Expression Automática, a gama Logan 2012 também contará com as versões Authentique e Expression - equipadas com motor 1.0 16V Hi-Flex - e a Expression com câmbio manual e propulsor 1.6 8V Hi-Torque.
A exemplo do que aconteceu com o Novo Sandero Automático, a escolha do motor 1.6 16V Hi-Flex para trabalhar em conjunto com a caixa automática que equipará o Logan deve-se, principalmente, pela sua adaptabilidade, performance e baixo consumo de combustível. O Logan Expression Automático 1.6 16V Hi-Flex desenvolve 107 cv, quando abastecido com gasolina, e 112 cv com etanol no tanque.
O Renault Logan Expression 1.6 16V Hi-Flex com câmbio automático terá preço sugerido a partir de R$ 41.950,00, enquanto a versão manual, equipada com motor 1.6 8V Hi-Torque e com a mesma lista de equipamentos de série, é comercializada a partir de R$ 38.450,00.
O câmbio automático do Logan 2012 é auto-adaptável, ou seja, modela-se ao estilo de condução do motorista. São nove programas diferentes, que vão desde uma condução mais suave até uma performance mais esportiva.
Esta caixa possui uma central eletrônica “inteligente”, que avalia, a todo instante, qual a melhor marcha para determinada situação ou o melhor momento para a troca de marchas, em função do estilo de condução do motorista.
O câmbio automático que equipará a linha 2012 do Logan conta com a função “Kick down”. Acionada quando o motorista pisa até o fim e de forma rápida o pedal do acelerador, a central eletrônica avalia e realiza a redução de uma ou duas marchas, conforme dos dados avaliados por ela. Essa operação melhora a aceleração disponível, como, por exemplo, na realização de ultrapassagens.
Para otimizar o funcionamento e a performance do câmbio automático em função das características específicas do Logan, o conversor de torque adotado neste modelos possui turbinas internas com novas dimensões.
O conversor de torque é um tipo de acoplamento hidráulico entre o motor e o câmbio, sendo responsável por transferir a força gerada pelo propulsor para a caixa, cumprindo assim, papel semelhante ao da embreagem no carros com câmbio manual.
