New GM Mid-size Truck?
Autoblog.com is reporting today that GM has revealed plans to build a new version of the midsize Colorado at a plant in St. Louis. The information seems to have been leaked during recent UAW negotiations.
The truck industry as a whole seems to be in flux as over the years the mid and full size offerings from all manufacturers have creeped up in size. In fact the mid size is just the end result of where compact trucks from the past evolved into. There are rumors of Ford reintroducing a version of their old F100 pickup and Mahindra is said to be entering the US market with a true compact truck complete with a small 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine. The next few years will be interesting...

Delco Auto Parts
AC Delco Auto Parts for GM Vehicles
General Motors not only manufacturers automobiles, but also manufacturers the automobile parts through their AC Delco auto parts division. This division is responsible for sourcing parts needed in the manufacturer of GM vehicles, as well as providing parts supplies for consumers in need of replacement auto parts for their own GM vehicle. This division has been around for almost a hundred years, providing quality parts for all GM models.
No Hassle AC Delco Auto Parts
If you own an older modeled GM vehicle finding replacement parts for it can be problematic as most car parts stores only stock a select amount of replacement parts. Even the car dealership only deals with newer makes and models parts and both often require you ordering the part and waiting until it is shipped and received. Instead you can cut out these middlemen and go straight to the source, which has an extensive stock of AC Delco auto parts with next day delivery service available in most areas, through Auto Parts Tomorrow.

Why Should I Change Auto Parts Suppliers?

If we were just another auto parts store that might be a legitimate question. Autopartstomorrow.com is a different auto parts PROCESS that has been designed to save You money through OUR efficiencies.
When you buy from Autopartstomorrow you are buying from a warehouse distributor. We do not have the expense of maintaining auto parts stores all across the country. The rent, utilities, fleets of vehicles, employees, advertising, promotions, etc., the costs of running a retail business, all need to be folded into the cost ratio of the parts being sold. As such, the profit margin between what was paid for the actual auto part and what that part can be sold for needs to help pay for those expenses. As a warehouse distributor we basically have one HUGE warehouse per region, and UPS and FEDEX come to us to pick up the pallets of auto parts we ship each night.
Don't get me wrong, we still have support costs, but we keep those at an absolute minimum so we can sell our auto parts for less than the competition could even think about. We will be opening more large warehouses as we go to make sure we can get you your parts next day in every corner of the United States, but we promise to be frugal about the way we handle expansion to make sure we are always the best value for your auto parts needs. Our customers seem to think we have made the right choices so far.
Thanks !! Autopartstomorrow

Original Equipment GM Part# from ACDelco

Keeping your General Motors vehicle running correctly is important in order to extend the life of the vehicle. Many people purchase a new General Motors vehicle and will follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule. However, other people will only perform oil changes and do little else to maintain the vehicle. Not following regular maintenance schedules can lead to parts wearing out sooner and needed replaced more often. The use of GM part# to replace worn out parts for people who seek original equipment is often obtained from ACDelco.
ACDelco is the parts manufacturing division of General Motors which was founded in 1916 as a separate division which manufacturers all parts and components to build General Motors vehicles. ACDelco was originally founded under the name of United Motors by General Motor’s founder William C Durant. Durant also was the founder of Chevrolet as well as the owner of Buick. Durant had previously owned a successful carriage company where he used a separate division, which he also created, to supply all the materials and parts to the primary company for building the carriages. Following this same concept is what led Durant to create United Motors in order to supply all General Motors brands with GM part#.
United Motors was founded by combining several smaller parts manufacturers and suppliers, including Remy Electric Company, Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company, New Departure Manufacturing Company, and Hyatt Roller Bearing Company. In 1908, Durant had partnered with Albert Champion, the founder of Champion Ignition Company to create AC spark plugs; a division of General Motors after Albert Champion had lost control of his company. AC spark plugs were providing GM part# ignition components as well as spark plugs to all General Motors automobile divisions.
Prior to 1918, United Motors was able to sell parts to other manufacturers, including Ford, which General Motors did not like. After 1918, United Motors was fully acquired by GM for a long period prevented the division from manufacturing parts for other competitors. By 1944 the company had become fully integrated into General Motors providing GM part# for all General Motors divisions. In the 1970’s the Delco name was used with various GM divisions and grew in popularity with consumers, and as a result United Motors became United Delco. Delco is an abbreviated version of Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company which was one of the original companies used to create United Motors.
In the mid-1970s, General Motors was looking into ways to combine operations and cut back no expenses amid the economic conditions occurring at the time, including an oil crisis. As a result, GM merged together AC spark plugs with United Delco to create ACDelco, because both divisions were supply the same customers and combing operations would mean better exposure for GM part# made by both divisions.
GM part# are available online from Auto Parts Tomorrow, www.autopartstomorrow.com, which stocks ACDelco brand parts available for all General Motors brands as well as other automobile replacement parts. The company offers free shipping on orders over $50 as well as a low price guarantee, which provides that if a customer finds the same for someplace else for less, Auto Parts Tomorrow will refund the difference plus $1. GM Sensors

Newer model General Motors cars, trucks, SUVs and crossovers all use computer systems and components in order to provide for optimal operating conditions and achieving the best performance. The computer systems function in a manner where data is fed into the computer and the computer processes this data to make adjustments to the operating conditions of the engine as well as other systems on the vehicle. One part which aids in taking data readings is a GM sensor and information collected is fed back into the computer.
A GM sensor can be found in several different areas on the vehicle and could include oxygen sensors, air pressure sensors and temperature sensors. Oxygen sensors are used to adjust the air and fuel mixture in order to obtain the best gas mileage possible. When the oxygen sensor malfunctions, inaccurate data is fed to the computer which could result in an increase in fuel consumption and decreased gas mileage. Air pressure sensors feed data about the different air pressures in the tires and ensures that correct air pressure levels are maintained.
Maintaining proper air pressure in the tires is important to extend the life of the tear, ensure for uniform tread wear and maintain higher levels of gas mileage. When one tire loses air pressure, A GM sensor reading will feed this data to the computer, which will then display a check tires message on the dash display in the vehicle. It is a good idea to stop driving and check the tire pressure on all the tires at that point, because a tire which is losing air could have a nail or other object in it and could result in a blow out if it is left unchecked.
A GM sensor is also used in General Motors vehicles to measure temperature readings for different features and systems on the vehicle. General Motors vehicles which display inside and outside temperatures use a temperature sensor to take the air temperature and feed the data to the computer which then converts this information and displays the results on the display on the dash in either Fahrenheit or Celsius.
A GM sensor used under the hood of the vehicle to measure air intake temperatures is another type of temperature sensor. As the engine heats up this sensor monitors both the engine temperature as well as the temperature of the air coming in through the air intake. Cooler air intakes temperatures help keep the engine cool and from overheating. When the outside air temperature is hot, then the cooling system on the vehicle must work harder in order to keep the engine operating and prevent it from overheating. In the event the engine becomes too hot, another temperature sensor sends this data to the computer, which then displays the results on the engine temperature gauge on the dash.
Over time sensors wear out and need replaced and can be obtain from Auto Parts Tomorrow, www.autopartstomorrow.com. This auto parts suppliers stocks over $30 million in auto parts including GM sensor replacements. The company guaranteed next day shipping for most areas and provides a low price guarantee. For more information or to place an order, visit the website or call 800-547-2052.

Wholesale ACDelco Parts Online

AC Delco Parts is owned by General Motors as a fully independently ran subsidiary consisting of AC Spark Plug and United Delco divisions. General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant as a holding company for Buick with plans to acquire other automobile manufacturers of the time. William Durant has been successful as a carriage manufacturer prior to automobiles using similar business tactics, which included creating a separate division for provide the components and raw materials needed to the carriage company. This allowed for the carriage company to always have materials and components available even when competitors faced shortages or increased prices.
In 1908, William Durant along with Albert Champion created the AC Spark Plug Division owned by General Motors as part of Durant’s business philosophy to provide materials and equipment to Buick at affordable costs. General Motors began to grow quickly and was able to obtain Oldsmobile before the end of 1908 and Cadillac, and the divisions which would become known as Pontiac and GMC Trucks in 1909. William Durant lost controlling interest in GM in 1910 and went off to found Chevrolet with Louis Chevrolet in 1911. AC Delco parts were not available, yet but the creation of Durant’s vision would be forthcoming shortly.
With the success of the Chevrolet brand of automobiles, Durant was able to resume control of General Motors in 1916 adding Chevrolet to the General Motors lines of automobiles. It was during this time that Durant also created the United Motors Corporation from profits earned from Chevrolet. United Motors Corporation consisted of individual companies, each providing different parts, materials and components for use in manufacturing automobiles. United Motors was not owned by GM and could offer AC Delco parts to any automobile manufacturer.
General Motors remedied this situation by purchasing United Motors for $45 million in 1918 and making it a wholly owned subsidiary. Now GM had two divisions which could provide the majority of parts for all of its line of automotive products as well as replacement parts exclusively for GM models. The Delco name was born from the Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company which was part of the original United Motors Corporation. The Delco name had gained so much popularity with consumers that in 1971 GM renamed the division United Delco. Consumers were able to obtain AC and Delco parts for the GM brand automobiles.
Due to economic conditions and in efforts to cut expenses, combine operations and provide better marketing of products, General Motors combined the AC and Delco parts divisions in 1974. This strategy better aligned the two divisions by merging them together since consumers were already obtaining parts from each division and now could do so with having to place only one order instead of two separate parts orders.
AC Delco parts are available still today from Auto Parts Tomorrow, www.autopartstomorrow.com at reasonable prices. This company offers the lowest prices on parts which include a pricing guarantee, where they will refund the difference plus $1 if a consumer can find the same part for less. The company also offers free shipping on orders over $50 and overnight delivery in most locations. For more information, assistance or to place an order, call 800-547-2052.

How an Engine Works...

Another in the video series from TLC that explains the basics on an internal combustion engine. Although everyone rides around in their cars being propelled by this technology, not everyone is aware how it all works. A basic understanding of auto technology and auto parts will make an auto parts buyer more informed, and an educated consumer is much more likely to take advantage of our site, autopartstomorrow.com for their auto parts needs. Some say the internal combustion engine is doomed to quick replacement. Others understand how ingrained the technology has become. It will probably be around in some form for quite a while...

Why we don't carry EVERYTHING?!

I posted a few days ago about why we don't do special orders for auto parts here at Autopartstomorrow.com. Along that same line of thinking is the process by which we select the parts that we offer for wholesale purchases online.
When a customer is in need of auto parts (GM parts, Ford parts, Mercedes parts, etc.) they would love to be able to log in and immediately find all of the parts they need, at wholesale pricing and delivered next day. That is actually the experience we would like to offer at Autopartstomorrow.com, but it gets a little complicated when you begin to consider the scale of what it would take to stock all of those parts. So what happens most of the time with auto parts stores is they do tons of research on which parts need to be replaced the most, on which vehicles, in what areas... and then put as many of those parts as possible into stock in the areas as close to the customer with that car as possible.
So, as an example, we are much more likely to have brake pads for a 2003 Chevy Malibu than the glove compartment latch for this Lamborghini. Even on that 2003 Chevy Malibu we need to make decisions; we carry 4 different brake manufacturers and most pieces will be available, but we do not carry any of the body pieces or window glass. When you step back and really begin to think of the 10's of thousands of auto parts on every vehicle year, make and model still on the road it would take a parts warehouse the size of Texas.
So, companies specialize to a degree. What we do at Autopartstomorrow.com is focus on late model (1990-2010) service parts (tune-up, brake job, electrical repair, high failure rate wear items, etc.) for the most prevalent cars on the road in the Eastern United States. We stock those parts in warehouses from Southern GA to Northern PA, so that we can get them to you the very next day. Then we make sure our prices are the lowest that can be found so you can repair your vehicle with the very least out of pocket expense possible. We may not have every part for every car, but we will probably have almost everything you need for your car and get it to you fast and cheap every time. It seems to be working as we continue to double in size every few months. We pledge to continue to increase our inventory and keep our price low, so that you will keep coming back and tell ALL of your friends!!

Cheap Classics?!

I am not sure what the reasoning may be but I seem to be seeing a trend towards affordable "classic" cars now available from locations around the U.S.. It probably is a combination of factors; bad economy, the emergence of resto-mod vehicles and newly available restoration parts from overseas, but I am happy to see it. I fall into the category of aging baby boomers wanting a piece of their history (on the very youngest end that is) and we seem to be driving this market. It may even be just a function of the internet making cars that were once a regional phenomenon, now available for purchase worldwide.
Either way, there are sites like this one in Texas that have regional cars at reasonable costs... and they seem to be pretty good deals. I am certainly no expert on what each vehicle should go for based on pedigree, etc.... I just know that I would probably rather have a classic vehicle that is unique for less than $20K than a run of the mill new sedan for $30K. Maybe we need to consider hanging on to those obsolete auto parts for a while longer. We probably do a pretty good job with the older AC Delco parts but I am not sure on the Ford parts. Just call us and we will check the inventory. That's what our auto parts specialists are here for!

Pause for Classic Cars

Sometimes it's just good to sit back and look at a beautiful car... Plus I'll throw in a link to a place in Texas that has a few more, for sale!
