Ever wondered why every single model replacement is followed by one that is larger? Well, no matter what you do, packaging has its limitations, and the only way to get around it after a point is by pulling at the edges a bit. So if you flip the pages to the Which Car section, you will be surprised to find that the Hyundai i10 has actually gained nothing in terms to length and wheelbase over the santro, while the new kid on the block, the Suzuki Ritz, has instantly gained a couple of centimetres on the Wagon R in practically all areas. So has someone here forgotten the replacement formula, or does the current segment best, the i10, send another potential rival to the bottom of the hatch heap?

Well, number ok have something to say here. Hyundai sells a little under 8000 units a month of its wonder car, on an average. And we aren't even talking exports here! Which is precisely why Maruti Suzuki is looking to grab some part of that slice, with not one, but two cars. The A-Star has grabbed the collar of the base versions of the i10, while the Ritz takes on its Kappa engined variants. A seemingly simple comparison, then? Not quite Ideally, this would have been a Ritz-i20 comparison, but for forces prevailing at Maruti's senior management, who've managed to keep the introductory pricing so competitive that the i10 has appeared in its cross hairs.

But that has got nothing to do with the design here, right? Uh oh, it does, because you get more metal for your money. Longer than the i10, the Ritz can't hide its larger proportions, especially since the wider track and taller stance make the Ritz can't hide its larger proportions, expecially since the wider track and taller stance make the Ritz bulkier The overall design language might not excite, but Suzuki have left behind the Wagon R's boxy appearance for some curves. what instantly catches your eye is the swooping roofline, which defines the overall design.

Tall headlamps and a simple grille remind you of its utilitarian appeal, while the wide rear arches and neatly integrated tail lamps just bring in a slight hint of aggression. In contrast, the i10 is far more contemporary. When it was first launched a little less than two years ago, it looked like nothing on the road and even today the i10 stands out with its unique pear drop headlamps, its small mustachioed grille, the bonnet that pretends to have a 'power bump' and the sweeping C-pillar. You can't complain about the way it looks, even though some might find it too radical for their appetite.

2011 Maruti Suzuki Kizashi Launched In India Yesterday - Specifications, Features, Price

Putting an end to the rumors regarding the launch of a new luxury car, Maruti Suzuki India, launched its much awaited luxury sedan "Maruti Suzuki Kizashi" yesterday. The new Maruti Kizashi marks Maruti's debut into the upper end of the market. Since the last 1.5 years, there had been rumors regarding Kizashi, but Maruti officially announced the launch only recently.
The new Maruti Kizashi is powered by 2.4litre petrol engine which delivers it a maximum power of 178PS. The new Maruti Kizashi comes in two variants - Automatic Transmission priced at Rs.17.5-lakh and Six-Speed Manual Transmission at Rs.16.5-lakh.

Maruti Suzuki has positioned Kizashi as a sports sedan and will be available from next month onwards. The Kizashi is equipped with unique safety and luxury features and will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Corporation's Sagara plant in Japan and imported to India as a completely built-up unit (CBU).
Maruti claims a mileage of 12.53km/l in the automatic model and 12.45km/l in manual model. Kizashi can be booked at the Maruti-Suzuki Showrooms with an initial deposit of Rs.50,000/-
Maruti had launched Kizashi in Japan in 2009 and later in United States. In Maruti Suzuki India's MEO(Managing Executive Officer) Mayank Pareek, "Kizashi is not about volumes... this sedan will further expand our portfolio in the market. Though such luxury car segment now occupies just 2.8 percentage of the Indian car market, in future we see this going up fast. This launch is in preparation for the future."

SUZUKI KIZASHI

http://www.carstyling.ru/resources/concept/large/2007Suzuki_Kizashi-2_03.jpg

http://www.thetorquereport.com/suzuki_kizashi_3_concept.jpg

Maruti has had its foot stuck in the small car doorway for quite a while now. But now with the new Kizashi, the company has confirmedly stepped into the luxury car segment. We have got our hands on the new luxury saloon from the Suzuki stable and here are our first impressions.

In flesh, the Kizashi looks quite impressive sitting on those large 17inch wheels – it gives the saloon a lot of attitude. Though it’s unmistakably a Suzuki in its design, the Kizashi possesses an added flair. The front has a large open-mouthed look with the bonnet crease flowing in a singular line in ‘U’ shape under the air dam. It sports the typical honey comb and the double barrel headlamps add some zing. From the side profile, the Kizashi looks well proportioned, tightly skinned saloon with a sporty stance. The rear is nice too with the C pillar flowing all the way down to the smart tail lamps. What’s also nice is the smartly styled double exhaust pipes in chrome.

The cabin is probably the best we have come across in a Maruti Suzuki. The saloon comes with good quality interiors with just a few plastics that are not up to the mark. We like the flat integrated central console and the retro looking dials with chrome rings. Splashes of chrome add some life to the other wise basic looking cabin. The good thing is that the Kizashi is available in only one trim level – be it the automatic or the manual – so you get everything that Suzuki has on offer: smart leather upholstery, multi function steering wheel, cruise control, push button start, dual zone automatic climate control, CD/MP3 player with USB port, adjustable power seats, rear seat armrest, and 60:40 split rear seats.

The Kizashi comes loaded with safety features too –such as ABS with EBD, ESP, hill assist, pre-tensioner seat belts, engine immobilizer, lane change indicators, dual front airbags, side airbags for front seats and curtain airbags for front and rear passengers.

Under the hood lies the same 4-cylinder, 16 valve 2.4litre DOHC motor that powers the Grand Vitara. However, the improved 2393cc VVT motor now churns out 175.5bhp while developing 23.4kgm of max torque – a nominal improvement over the Vitara’s output figures.

Take the car for a spin around the city and you will realize that the bottom end is not a strong point of this car. It can also get a bit jerky in the city with sudden surges of power, but take it out on a highway the Kizashi comes into its own. It makes its way to 3 digit speeds quite quickly and is able to cruise comfortably. You have to work the gears a bit to get the best out of this car and once you get used to it, the saloon performs well in city traffic too. The 6-speed manual gear box feels a bit rubbery – we would have preferred a more positive shift. The engine gets a bit buzzy at higher revs and is quite audible inside the cabin.

Kizashi is also available with a CVT gear box. After taking this car for a spin, we felt that the CVT is a bit sluggish. It also has that typical rubber-band effect -where you feel the engine is revving more than the car is actually accelerating. A traditional automatic gearbox would have sufficed. However, the Kizashi is well equipped and comes with paddle shifts for the automatic variant, which means if you can switch to manual mode if you care less about the auto box’s functioning. In the manual mode the gearbox reacts quite quickly to inputs and shifts up or down on demand.

Out on the highway, the steering feels a bit numb at dead centre but after that it turns quickly and responds to inputs positively. What adds the Kizashi’s luxury car appeal is that is feels planted on the road, even at high speeds.

What is sacrificed due to its relatively compact dimensions and a sporty feel is legroom. Yes, at 2700mm, the Kizashi’s wheelbase is as long as the Honda Civic’s, but this car is likely to be priced in between the Civic and the Accord, and it it falls short of the competition with the interior space it offers. Legroom is more like the VW Jetta’s or Skoda Laura’s. And rear seat comfort is just as good, if not better, with the well bolstered seat supporting you in the right places. You don’t really miss the legroom unless there is someone really tall seated up front. The centre of the rear seat is slightly raised too, which means that although a third passenger can fit in, he will not be too comfortable. Boot space is not impressive when compared to others in this class, but its offering of 461litres is pretty adequate.

Maruti knows the Indian road conditions well and the engineers have tuned the suspension prioritizing on ride quality. The Kizashi’s ride is quite flat making the cabin a comfortable place to be. It absorbs all the bumps and potholes without really letting them affect to the passenger much.

The Kizashi is definitely the most luxurious Suzuki yet, but does it have what it takes to match up to its counterparts? Maybe not, because it trails behind in certain key areas. But with time the Kizashi tends to grows on you. It’s very well equipped, has comfortable back seats, good ride quality and comes with the peace of mind the Maruti brand brings. Plus, Maruti have always been known to price their cars well and price will be a key factor in the Kizashi's success in India.

The result is new Maruti Alto K 10 with more pickup and various new features. Let's go through the features of Maruti Alto:

Design & Styling
As mentioned earlier, Alto is one of the most sold cars from Maruti. As a result, the design of Alto has become outdated. First thing Maruti did was refreshing the design of Alto. Length has been increased by 125mm. Changes have been made in the engine bay inorder to make place for bigger k-series engine. New bumper, fog lamp and headlamp adds to the beauty of new Maruti Alto k 10. Changes have also been made to the sides. They are new rub rails, 13" tyres and new wheel caps. Out dated rubber mounted rear glass gave way to modern glass fixing.
The new steering and gear knob gives a cool look to the interior. Seats have also been modified. Even though the integrated headrests in the front seats are not adjustable, they are comfortable. Improved seat fabrics also increases the comfort. The bootspace in the front has improved compared to that of the previous model.
