Market Watch: Hyundai posts 22% jump in January U.S. sales

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Hyundai Motor America on Tuesday reported a 22% surge in January U.S. sales from a year earlier to 37,214 cars and trucks. Retail sales, which are more profitable than fleet sales, saw a 58% increase from a year ago. "Our January sales results were encouraging, continuing the momentum of our best year ever, amidst signals that the economy is stabilizing on a trajectory of steady, sustained growth," said Dave Zuchowski, head of Hyundai Motor America sales.
